New Book: The Camps of “Operation Reinhardt”
Our prestigious series Holocaust Handbooks includes three monographs on the so-called Camps of “Operation Reinhardt”: Treblinka, Belzec and Sobibór. The first monograph is 19 years old, the second 17 years, and the last of them appeared 11 years ago. Lots of archeological research has been conducted in Treblinka and Sobibor in the meantime, and many more witness statements were about both camps have been made accessible during the past decade. Hence, it was time to either give all three books a major overhaul, or to issue a new book bringing the entire topic up to date.
For a number of reasons, which are explained in the book’s foreword, we decided to go the second route, the main one being that many issues are common to all three camps, and should be covered in one book, not three times in three separate books.
This new book replaces the unwieldy old Volume 28 of the Holocaust Handbooks that was a set of two books with together more than 1300 pages. Now we have an attractive new Volume 28:

As an update and upgrade to the Volumes 8, 9 and 19 of this series, this study has its first focus on witness testimonies recorded during the war and its aftermath, thus demonstrating how the myth of the “extermination camps” was created. The second part of this book acquaints us with the various archeological efforts made by mainstream scholars in their attempt to prove that the myth based on testimonies is true. The third part compares the findings of the second part with what we ought to expect, and reveals the chasm that exists between archeologically proven facts and mythological requirements.
